Ah, the infamous quarry.
|
The camera always underplays how steep this run is.
Only one rider - Hamish - has conquered this run (26/9/04).

hill62 Lazy Sunday Afternoon Series 2005
|
2004 saw the (....ahem) legendary 9/04 chill62....12/04 chilly62 (when it was colder...dead clever.).
This Summer (well, last Summer...it's dark & cold outside now) saw our 1st 'series'. Not very organised, a bit of a laugh, and VERY competitive.
hill62 Lazy Sunday Afternoon Series icame to the world in association with 0800Reverse.

Lazy Sunday Afternoon Series 2006: Round 1 DH
|
1st round of the series.
A small, select gathering. Weather went from electric storms and torrential rain on the Saturday to warm English Summer on the (Lazy) Sunday.

Round 1 Lazy Sunday Afternoon Series 2005
|
hill62 Lazy Sunday Afternoon Series 2005. Just that. Those too lazy to show don't, those less so do.
Not too serious and thanks to 0800Reverse for supporting the series.
Best 3 results from 4 rounds count. Round 1 saw a very fast BX track with some tight racing culminating in Shane Herd from FATBOYS beating hill62's own Carl Rowlands on the lower field straight - aggressive race. Good stuff. Best time in the KO's something just over 36 seconds - will go by the end of Round #4.
In the <16's, Will Boxall (hill62) beat Myles Hillier (massive stack in the finals) after some tight racing.
Slopestyle saw some chilled (and less-so-chilled, especially Daz 'it's a knockout' Murphy - 5 seconds out and concussion - nice!) riding with smooth slopestyle from BayRay (signature big-air tail-grab + very smooth board-slides, plus big air 3's), Shane with big methods and plenty of slopestyle and, in the <16's, Myles Hillier (again) and Roland P. (close stuff you 2 - this should go to the rails by the end of the series). Will L. ought to get on his new Comp6 for round #2, 17/7!

Here's a few more shots from the day. Check out the creative lawn-mowing (cheers Carl....got you out of mowing the whole track too).
Main shot - Daz Murphy when we'd cleared up. Drop-off from top section into bottom cruise-in. 5 minutes later ke knocked himself out on the smae drop-off (which is a lot more gnarly in the flesh....a nice sheep track 1/2 way across and you're hitting this at A LOT of speed).

John just sessioning the big dirt jump (it is out of a 100 year old quarry....plenty of BIG AIR possible from the top - this shot is dropping in from only 1/2 way up).
